US housing starts fell by 11% to 1.06, down from 1.191 million (also revised down). However, building permits came out at 1.15, exactly as expected.
Currencies seem unmoved, in anticipation to a bigger event today.
Earlier, Jeffery Lacker said that the improvement in the labor market has been substantial. Lacker is a hawk, and his stance will likely be seen in the meeting minutes. However, the FOMC is quite split.
US housing starts were expected to stand at 1.16 million in October after 1.206 in September (before revisions) , a fall of 4.8%. Building permits carried expectations for a rise to 1.15 from 1.105 million, a rise of 6.5%.
Towards the release, EUR/USD traded around 1.0665.
The big event of the day is the FOMC Meeting Minutes at 19:00 GMT.
