Fed speakers leaning towards a hike

Fed Chair Janet Yellen speaks today, as part of a long list of Fed speakers. While she dodges the hot topic of monetary policy, the others are continuing to prepare us for a hike, following the October decision and the excellent NFP.

Here are other comments from Fed officials, in chronological order. There are no less than 7 speakers in total:

  1. Williams sees a very strong case to raise: The president of the San Francisco Fed supports a rate hike December assuming the data is consistent. He is a “light dove” usually. He said this in an interview to USA Today during the Asian session.
  2. Bullard sees no reason to continue extreme policy: The president of the Saint Louis Fed has always been bullish and now he wants to get back to normal. He spoke in a conference at around 14:00 GMT.
  3. Janet Yellen: The Fed Chair doesn’t talk monetary policy, which is disappointing. She spoke at 14:30 GMT. The US dollar is weaker in the aftermath, but not going anywhere fast.
  4. Jeffery Lacker: Speaks at 14:45 GMT. He is a known hawk. He doesn’t say anything earth shattering.
  5. Charles Evans: Speaks at 15:15. The president of the Chicago Fed is a known dove.
  6. Bill Dudley: Speaks at 17:15. The President of the New York Fed is considered No. 3 in the organization and he is in the center.
  7. Stanley Fischer: Speaks at 23:00 GMT. The Vice Chair is a slightly hawkish.

We have JOLTs at 15:00 GMT. Earlier, jobless claims missed expectations.
