Market Shadows Made Some Moves During A Quiet Week

Edged Higher: Put Some Cash to Work

We added two positions to our Virtual Value Portfolio this week. Coca-Cola (KO) was a re-entry to a stock we’d profited on earlier. Wal-Mart (WMT) shares represented a new purchase for us although we had shorted WMT Jan. 2016, puts for the Virtual Put Writing Portfolio back on Feb. 4th.

Both KO and WMT raised their dividends this week, Coke by 8.93% and WMT by 2.13%.

The S&P 500 was higher for most of Friday but turned lower in the last hour of trading this week. It ended at 1,836, down 0.1 percent for the week.

Our value-oriented portfolio crept 0.6% higher while the index marked time.

Our original $100,000 stake has grown by more than 38% since we got rolling on October 26, 2012. Our cash reserve now sits just below 10% of our total assets.
