E Mid Cap Best & Worst Report – July 6, 2016

  • The highest scoring mid cap is movies.

The average mid cap score in our universe is 58.60. Overall, the typical mid cap is trading -22.13% below its 52 week high, 2.53% above its 200 dma, has 7.1 days to cover held short, and is expected to grow its EPS by 16.7% in the coming year.

Utilities, consumer goods, and industrial goods score best in mid cap. Financials, basics, and healthcare score in line with the average mid cap score. Technology and services score below average.

The strongest scoring mid cap industry is movies (RGC, CNK). REITs (REG, WRI, NNN, CLI, BDN), gas utilities (EGN, NJR), oil & gas equipment & services (HLX, PDS), and processed & packaged goods (GIS, HAIN) are also top scoring.

In basics, concentrate attention on oil & gas equipment & services and oil & gas drillers (PTEN). Synthetics (AXLL, POL) also score highly. Processed & packaged goods, textiles (CRI, DECK), and packaging & containers (MINI) are top scoring in consumer. The best financials industries are REITs and accident & health insurance (AFL). Medical appliances (ALGN, MASI, STE, MDRX), medical instruments (WST,  TFX, NUVA), and healthcare plans (WCG, CNC) can be bought in healthcare. Residential construction (NVR, KBH), aerospace/defense (TDY, CW, CAE), and industrial electrical (AOS) are top scoring in industrials. The strongest services baskets include movies and business services (HCSG, RBA, GPN, FICO). Application software (LOCK, FTNT), information & delivery services (FDS, DNB), and technical & system software (CDNS, TYL) is best in technology. Gas utilities can also be owned.
