Economic Events Of The Coming Week – Sunday, Feb. 12

Monday: Preliminary estimates of Q4’s GDP data will see light in Japan.

Tuesday: January CPI data will see light in China, where analyst expectations see a hefty 2.4% annual inflation, amid a 5% or so annual depreciation of the Yuan vs. the Dollar. In Germany, the Preliminary estimate of GDP in the fourth quarter will see light, as will the final estimate of January’s Consumer Price Index, currently at 1.9%. January’s CPI will also see light in the U.K., where, in spite of the depreciation of the GBP since the Brexit Vote, analysts expect a modest increase of annual inflation to 1.9%. In Germany, February’s ZEW Survey data will see light. Preliminary Q4 GDP estimates will see light for the Eurozone. The Fed’s Yellen will appear before the Senate’s Banking Panel.

Wednesday: In the U.K., January’s Claimant Count Rate data will see light, as will January’s Jobless Claims data for the month and December’s Unemployment. In the U.S., the weekly MBA Mortgage Applications will see light. In the U.S., January’s Consumer Price Index data will see light. Here, too, analysts see an increase of annual inflation, going to +2.4% Year over Year.  January Advance Retail Sales data will also see light, as will the Industrial Production data. Yellen will deliver a semi-annual testimony to House Panel.

Thursday: January Housing Starts data will see light in the U.S. The weekly Initial Jobless Claims will also see light, as will the Philadelphia Fed Business Outlook Index.

Friday: January Retail Sales data will see light in the U.K. In the U.S., January Leading Index data will be released.
